Canadians will taste foods from Perú at Potato Festival in Toronto

(April 9, 2010) -I read the Canada Latest News, and it seems this weekend, the Peruvian communities in Toronto, Canada, will have a celebration; the Festival de la Papa (Potato Festival), to be held at the Peruvian Restaurant "La Cocina de Doña Luz." Check out this patriotic Causa Rellena, I thought you would like it!

Nature has been bountiful to Perú. Throughout 7000 years of history, our country has continued to offer one of the planet’s most fascinating pantries. And part of the bounty is due to the Peruvians themselves, who have held a respectful dialogue with the pacha mama, or mother earth, and her 85 geographic and climate settings. This has been the magic formula that has produced the variety of products that today are a fundamental part of the world’s diet.

Thanks to this pantry, different civilizations that flourished in this area built up a culinary tradition that, with the arrival of products from Spain just over 500 years ago, found a new starting point. And again the key to success was the dialogue. It became the axis on which to build a space where all the different peoples would begin to contribute to the culinary jigsaw that is so authentically Peruvian.
